- McKendrick, Jamie
- (1955- )Born in Liverpool, he studied at Nottingham University and taught at the University of Salerno, Italy. He lives in Oxford, teaches part-time and reviews poetry and the visual arts for a number of newspapers and magazines. He has held residencies at Hertford College, Oxford; Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic; the University of Gothenburg, and is writer-in-residence at University College, London. His poems have been published in Holland and Italy. His poetry publications: The Sirocco Room, 1991. The Kiosk on the Brink, 1993. The Marble Fly, 1997 (winner of the Forward Poetry Prize [Best Poetry Collection of the Year], a Poetry Book Society Choice, and T.S. Eliot Prize [shortlist]); Sky Nails: Poems, 1979-1997, 2000; Ink Stone, 2003 (shortlisted for the 2003 T.S. Eliot Prize and the 2003 Whitbread Poetry Award). His other prizes and awards: Eric Gregory Award, 1984; Guardian/World Wild Life Poetry Competition, 1989; Arts Council Writers' Award, 1991; Southern Arts Literature Award. 1994; Society of Authors Travel Award, 2003.
